Blood Ties

In celebration of 1 of 4 finals being taken and put to bed, I decided to take a break from maniacally scribbling flash cards to present to the internet the sublime gift of my little sister's face (and bod).

This is actually a re-edit of a shoot I did with her maybe 2 or so years ago, she's been on her fitness grind since then so she's slimmed down from here. Nevertheless, these pictures remain favorites between the two of us. She really is quite fabulous looking.

In the interest of cutting my usual long-windedness short, I'll leave off with a friendly reminder to follow us here or on tumblr! Happy summer to all and to all a good night!

As the (school) year winds down, it's time to really press ourselves to the limit and focus on the important things. Thus, I'm going to be taking a bit of a break, the trials of legal study call to me! Anyway, this Rack Diving takes things back to the night, with a darker look than the last.

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell Foxy

In an effort to battle the rising desert temperatures, Vikky's got on a short sleeved lightweight shirt. She's paired it with this black maxi skirt from Forever 21 for that sort of bohemian black on black look. Taking a page from my favorite style book "All Black Everything" perhaps?

The overall look is geared towards a nighttime desert affair, but it can easily go for any daytime look with slight changes in makeup. Or not. Either way, anyone would be keeping it chic and cool in this ensemble. The skirt is made of lightweight, breezy fabric and moves really well with you. Since its long and black, it adds a dramatic flair to any outfit. Bonus!

Well! That's all for now (and for some time unfortunately). We hope everyone is getting ready for the sun and surf with awesome outfits. Spring and Summer are traditionally times where fat people have been pressured and ridiculed into covering up. This look might not have much in the way of baring skin, but that doesn't mean we're not in full support of it! Heat is heat and we all sweat, especially some of us larger people, there is no reason we should cover up just because there's extra body on us! Have fun with it, dress how you like, and keep healthy and gorgeous all of you!

Cara Mia: An Ode to Spring

Rack Diving 11

Fast on the heels of our sultry last post is this latest installment of Rack Diving! This time, we've opted for a complete change in tone and time with a shoot set in the wee (WEE!) hours of the morning.

Vikky, looking gorgeous despite the extremely early hour and the fact that we had literally just woken up minutes before preparing to shoot, dons one of her more exciting thrift finds and braves the chilly early morning air. 

We did this shoot in anticipation of the spring, which has thus far evaded us. Pairing this dead adorable and slightly nautical themed dress with the legendary boots suggests attention to the persisting chill, while still paying homage to the warming up of the weather. The skirt of this is see-through, so it's likely she'll either have to wear it with leggings or get a slip sewn into it, either way, it's super cute so she's not complaining!

Dog: Mini Schnauzer

Wherever you may be in terms of changing seasons, be sure to dress appropriately for the temperature! No use catching a chill or having a heat stroke when there are so many other things you could be doing!

In the Middle of a Lonely Night

Rack Diving: 10

Good Lawdy Wawdy we've reached the big ONE-OH! That is to say 10. Ten whole Rack Diving posts! It feels like way more! I never thought we'd get much past 3, mostly because I'm a hopeless slacker/procrastinator and never get up on deadlines. So sue me. Anyways, these were taken in the DEAD of a cold cold COLD night, and I'm sorry to poor Vikky who put up with my "vision" and braved the chill of my backyard to do this for me.

We went for a sort of..."nighttime mystique" here, a bad girl in the deep of the night, all by her lonesome, making shadows beautiful. That's our Vik! To accomplish this cool kid look, we paired the famous ASOS leather jacket with a darling little velvet dress in blue that she snatched up from the thrift store. IT IS GORGEOUS and form fitting. Who says you need to spend loads on a velvet dress just to feel like you're back in the 90's/early 00's? Not us!

Leggings: ASOS

On her legs she's got on the matt leggings, also from ASOS, just to add a bit of texture/warmth to the ensemble. You can do this look with regular leggings though, just to simplify it a bit. To finish it all off, she did some cool dark makeup and slipped on a few eye-catching chains, and voila! The look is complete! Oh, you can't see it, but she's got on some studded booties to tie-in the edgy feel of it all.

Just like a rock star in leather and velvet, saying to the night that she doesn't give a fig about anything. It's about being young, being beautiful, and having fun! Or so the advert I'd use these for would be trying to sell. In any case, mostly this shoot was about being cold, for both of us =D.

Anyway, as always this has been Rack Diving, and we hope you're all keeping warm and fuzzy, even though winter is supposedly over!

She so Fly (I know you Jealous)

Bold title aside, I won't claim to being the most sophisticated in making my sartorial choices. I started the (school) year in a very different place, style-wise, than where I am now. I like to think I've evolved, but maybe I just got more clothes.

Anyway, I've neglected the blog recently, being the fierce legal eagle that I am, things get ROUGH at points in the year. Well...things are rough all the time, it is a rough thing to study, but it gets really real at points. Bellyaching done, I just wanted to put down a sort of...style checkpoint for myself. Did I have decent progress?

Artistic Inclinations and Entrepreneurial Spirit

Originally, I started doing these as ways to pass the long (long) hours in my more uninteresting classes. They're basically the SS13 collection of my fictional (for now) fashion line, Whole Milk. Why Whole Milk, you ask? Because the idea was originally born from clothiers like Black Milk, that sell these out of this world pieces but, of course, for smaller people. It's been an absolute trial to find anything at all galaxy print in my size but the internet is fairly exploding with galaxy/nebula print items for straight size girls. I think after a whole year and some of searching, I just finally bought myself of attractive, affordable, nebula print leggings.

Anyway, Whole Milk is a play on Black Milk basically. Whole for obvious reasons, har-dee-har. The drawings were all done on my ipad and they get noticeably better (I think) in the latter ones as I figured out how to really use my beloved app. Anyways, just plopping these here to update! Back to learning about Roe v. Wade.

We're Bold and We're Bad

Lately, and in reaction to the seasonal change, we've all been swaddled up in layers upon layers. In the interest of avoiding frostbite, winter wear tends more towards cover-up than show-out. Now that we've been treated to a few months of ongoing gray skies and bitter chill, I'm sure more than a few of us are ready for the warm breezes and sun-kissed afternoons of Springtime.

A couple of months ago, we shot a bunch of pictures in the dying rays of the sun. Then, when the brilliant marmalade blaze had disappeared behind the horizon, we crept inside the house to do a shoot of a different sort. In honor of the dying winter, and to usher in glorious Spring, we've decided to put that shoot up!

There are only 3 images, but we quite enjoyed them! Anyway, here's to Spring!
